A little known problem is out there - service members who come into the military with student loans and then have trouble paying will deployed. The GI Bill doesn't pay off existing loans and some service members don't know who to fully utilize the benefit or select the wrong school and end up piling on the loans.
NPR did a story on two veterans who are trying to help. One of them, Eli Williams actually got harassed by a bill collector while deployed in Iraq. So wrong.
So they started Leave No Veteran Behind - a non-profit that will help distressed service members and veterans pay off their student loans. They are looking for donations since the average person contacting them has $45,000 in debt.
Is that military friendly?? For a school to take someone in and pile on that much debt is just wrong.
